The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) said that the real reason for the postponement of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Cebu is not the storm Seniang that is believed to be not that strong and would not directly hit the island but the storm of protests brewing in Cebu and Manila particularly.
According to Ka Willy Marbella, internal deputy secretary general of KMP, “Gloria is first and foremost afraid to have a negative international image yet again, so instead of risking a catastrophic humiliation while the ASEAN leaders are here she opted to postpone the summit for January. Seniang just became a convenient and opportune excuse,”
“The fact of the matter is that with massive rallies set against her administration and her allies during the time of the ASEAN, world leaders will come to realize the complete isolation of the Macapagal-Arroyo regime. They will also see that all the forces of society have banded together against Gloria and her ilk. For Malacanang this is an unacceptable embarrassment and they did not want to risk it,” said Marbella.
“Now there are reports coming in that Gloria would withdraw her support from the constituent assembly and leave House Speaker Jose de Venecia to catch all the blame, but let us remember that the con ass itself is Malacanang-backed and is being done to save Gloria. Once again she is trying to save her skin and will distance herself from con ass now,” added the peasant leader.
“We must ever be vigilant in guarding Gloria and her lackeys they may be thinking of retreating now but they will most certainly be back. We must show our resolve in fighting them and their evil schemes by launching actions that would show our strength. Our protests actions are now all systems go to JUNK CON ASS!!!” ended Marbella.
