AQUINO FAILED! Four Years Too Long!

BAYAN-USA along with thousands of Filipinos around the globe will participate in an annual event known as the People’s State of the Nation Address on July 28th, 2014 to highlight the real state of the Philippines and to counter the rampant lies President Aquino will surely project at his own State of the Nation Address.

“Aquino failed the Filipino people by continuing to walk the crooked and corrupt path not the ‘daang matuwid’ that he claimed in the beginning of his term four years ago,” stated Bernadette Ellorin, chairperson of BAYAN USA. “Following the footsteps of his predecessor, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Aquino proves to be just another puppet regime riddled with human rights violations, pork barrel scandals, and liberal economic policies.”

During his term as president, B.S. Aquino has done nothing to improve the lives of Filipinos both living in the Philippines as well as the millions living in diaspora. Under Aquino’s watch, the country has experienced the highest rate of unemployment and the slowest rate of job growth. The world’s strongest recorded typhoon killed thousands of Filipinos and wrecked the lives of millions more, due to Aquino’s failure to prepare the Philippines’ infrastructure, disaster response systems, and rehabilitation programs. Nearly one year later, the hardest-hit communities still lack adequate food, safe shelters, and medical facilities.

“It is no surprise that Aquino can not respond properly to disaster relief, when his government’s policies cater to the needs of big business and U.S. imperialism rather than prioritizing the basic needs of food, shelter, healthcare, and education for the Filipino people,” Ellorin added.

“What Filipinos want is a government that is competent enough to respond to their immediate and long terms needs, national industrialization to sustain the Philippine economy without relying on imperialist investors that suck our natural resources dry, and a truly independent Philippines- one that we can all be proud of!”
